"Hidden Lakes"
This wall-hung piece is inspired by the quiet presence of remote mountain lakes—places discovered only by wandering off the trail, where water gathers in natural basins shaped slowly over time. Highly figured Oregon myrtle wood reveals its own voids and contours, which are inlaid with hand-cut blue glass, forming lake-like pools suspended within the grain.
Each glass lake follows the natural geometry of the wood, echoing the way alpine waters settle into hollows carved by weather, ice, and gravity. Framed in black walnut, the piece becomes a kind of aerial landscape—inviting the viewer to pause, look closer, and imagine the stillness of hidden places that exist quietly beyond the path.
