Coastal Shadows
This piece brings back memories of long drives along one of my favorite coastal roads. It lives somewhere between sculpture and shadowbox — a live-edge slab preserving the tree’s natural contour, with softly colored glass suggesting a quiet shoreline beside it.
Rich burl figure and weathered edge textures contrast with the clean geometry of the frame, giving the piece both warmth and structure. Its depth allows light and shadow to shift throughout the day, subtly changing the experience of it.
An intimate extension of my River Table work — created for collectors drawn to landscape expressed through material rather than literal depiction.
Big leaf maple burl
Black walnut
Hand-cut glass
13” x 45.25” x 3” deep
